According to the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers Association (OSD), in the first seven months of the current year motor vehicle sales in Turkey totaled 424,740 units, falling by 17 percent as compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. In July alone, Turkey's motor vehicle sales saw a slight decrease of 0.4 percent compared to the same month of 2011 but were down 13 percent month on month, totaling 65,122 units.
In the first seven months of this year, Turkey's passenger car sales amounted to 289,021 units, falling by 13.3 percent year on year.
In the given period, Turkey's motor vehicle exports came to 459,115 units, falling by eight percent year on year, while its passenger car exports amounted to 248,798 units, falling by nine percent compared to the same period last year. The revenue for total motor vehicle and component exports reached $11.8 billion, falling six percent, while the revenue of passenger car exports totaled $3.7 billion, falling by eight percent, both compared to the corresponding period of 2011.
In the first seven months of 2012, Turkey's passenger car imports fell by 9.4 percent year on year, totaling 208,137 units. In the given period, Turkey's motor vehicle imports totaled 262,300 units, falling by 14 percent year on year.
