Turkey’s January industrial production index up 0.3 percent over December

According to the data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜIK), in January this year Turkey's monthly calendar adjusted industrial production index increased by 16.1 percent year on year, while seasonal and calendar adjusted industrial production index rose slightly by 0.3 percent compared to previous month.

Among the various industrial sectors in Turkey, the calendar adjusted production index in the mining sector in January this year declined by 0.6 percent year on year and was down 3.9 percent month on month, while the index for the manufacturing sector surged by 19.1 percent compared to January 2009 and was up 0.7 percent over December 2009.

In the month in question, the index for the manufacture of basic metals decreased by one percent year on year and was down 3.54 percent over December, while the index for the manufacture of fabricated metal products rose by 18.02 percent year on year and was down 16.68 percent compared to the previous month.
