According to the statistics released by the Taiwan Ministry of Finance, Taiwan's iron and steel exports in July amounted to $1.34 billion, increasing by 37.5 percent, while its metal product exports totaled $828.3 million, up 41 percent, both compared to July 2009.
Meanwhile, in July, Taiwan increased its iron and steel imports by 64.9 percent to $1.06 billion and its metal product imports came to $946.9 million, up 32 percent, both compared to the same month last year.
On the other hand, in the January-July period of this year Taiwan's iron and steel exports stood at $9.27 billion, increasing by 38.8 percent, while its metal product exports rose 47.2 percent to $5.46 billion, both compared to the corresponding period of 2009.
In the first seven months of this year, Taiwan's iron and steel imports were up 101.1 percent, totaling $7.1 billion, while its metal product imports stood at $6.78 billion, climbing by 88.4 percent, both compared to the January-July period of 2009.
