Taiwan's steel export value up 4.3 percent in October

According to the statistics released by the Taiwanese Ministry of Finance, in October this year Taiwan's export value of iron and steel and articles made from iron and steel amounted to $1.56 billion, increasing by 4.3 percent compared to the same month of 2012 and up 11 percent compared to September. In October, Taiwan's import value of iron and steel and articles made from iron and steel was $894.90 million, down 7.2 percent from September and falling 18.3 percent compared to October 2012.
 
In the first 10 months of this year, Taiwan's export value of iron and steel and articles made from iron and steel decreased by 3.4 percent year on year, amounting to $14.55 billion. Meanwhile, in the given period Taiwan's import value for the products in question decreased by 11.47 percent year on year to $9.35 billion.
