According to the statistics released by the Taiwan Ministry of Finance, in August this year Taiwan's export value of iron and steel and articles made from iron and steel amounted to $1.35 billion, decreasing by 21.2 percent compared to the same month of 2011 and down 12.9 percent month on month.
In the first eight months of this year, Taiwan's export value of iron and steel and articles made from iron and steel decreased by 7.1 percent from the same period last year, amounting to $12.07 billion.
Meanwhile, in the first eight months of 2012 Taiwan's import value for the products in question decreased by 14.5 percent compared to the same period of last year to $8.5 billion. In August alone, the country's import value for iron and steel and articles made from iron and steel decreased by 25.9 percent year on year to $941.4 million.
