Taiwan’s CSC increases steel production by 38.7 percent in February

Taiwan's largest steelmaker China Steel Corporation (CSC) has announced that in February this year its steel production volume fell by 11.99 percent month on month, reaching 738,243 metric tons, while the year-on-year increase was 38.7 percent.

In February, CSC's sales volume amounted to 707,103 metric tons, decreasing by 17.36 percent as compared to January and up 20.53 percent year on year. Of the company's total sales, 74.47 percent was shipped to the domestic market, while the remaining 25.53 percent was delivered to the export markets.

In the month in question, the steelmaker's sales revenues amounted to NTD 15.08 billion ($474.78 million), decreasing by 17.07 percent month on month, due to nine consecutive days off for the Chinese New Year, and was up 23.18 percent year on year, while its income before tax totaled NTD 3.74 billion ($117.75 million).
