Taiwan's largest steelmaker China Steel Corporation (
CSC) has announced that in September this year its steel
production volume declined by 6.47 percent month on month, reaching 788,337 metric tons, while the year-on-year increase was 5.24 percent. As SteelOrbis previously reported, in July
CSC's monthly
production volume had reached its highest level since September 2008, while September this year was the second consecutive month in which
production fell as compared to the previous month.
In September,
CSC's sales volume regressed after rising for three straight months, amounting to 819,464 metric tons, decreasing by 3.98 percent as compared to August and up 20.02 percent year on year.
In the month in question, the steelmaker's sales revenues amounted to NTD 21.29 billion ($694.39 million), falling by 7.4 percent month on month and up 50.74 percent year on year, while its income before tax totaled NTD 3.17 billion ($103.39 million).
On the other hand, in the first three quarters of this year,
CSC's total
production came to 7.33 million metric tons, up 28.23 percent, its sales volume amounted to 7.44 million metric tons, up 27 percent, while its sales revenue stood at NTD 174.11 billion ($5.68 billion), up 54.25 percent, all compared to the corresponding period of 2009. The company's profit before tax totaled NTD 37.95 billion ($1.24 billion) in the given period.
