CSC’s steel output and sales volumes rise in October

Taiwan's largest steelmaker China Steel Corporation (CSC) has announced that in October this year its steel production volume rose by 5.52 percent month on month, reaching 831,887 metric tons, while the year-on-year increase was 9.85 percent. As SteelOrbis previously reported, in July CSC's monthly production volume had reached its highest level since September 2008.    
 
In October, CSC's sales volume was 843,515 metric tons, increasing by 2.9 percent as compared to September and up 13.82 percent year on year.
 
In the month in question, the steelmaker's sales revenues amounted to NTD 20.7 billion ($687.47 million), falling by 2.8 percent month on month and up 29.13 percent year on year, while its income before tax totaled NTD 2.03 billion ($67.41 million).
 
On the other hand, in the first ten months of this year, CSC's total production came to 8.16 million metric tons, up 26.12 percent, its sales volume amounted to 8.28 million metric tons, up 25.45 percent, while its sales revenue stood at NTD 194.81 billion ($6.47 billion), up 51.13 percent, all compared to the corresponding period of 2009. The company's profit before tax totaled NTD 39.98 billion ($1.32 billion) in the given period.
