Taiwan's largest steelmaker China Steel Corporation (
CSC) has announced that in August this year its steel
production volume declined by 0.97 percent month on month, reaching 842,828 metric tons, while the year-on-year increase was 12.51 percent. As SteelOrbis previously reported, in July
CSC's monthly
production volume had reached its highest level since September 2008.
In August,
CSC's sales volume rose for the third straight month and amounted to 853,483 metric tons, increasing by 0.52 percent as compared to July and up 25.01 percent year on year.
In the month in question, the steelmaker's sales revenues amounted to NTD 21.91 billion ($686.07 million), rising by 0.97 percent month on month and up 63.78 percent year on year, while its income before tax totaled NTD 3.01 billion ($94.25 million).
On the other hand, in the first eight months of this year,
CSC's total
production came to 6.54 million metric tons, up 31.7 percent, its sales volume amounted to 6.62 million metric tons, up 27.92 percent, while its sales revenue stood at NTD 153.82 billion ($4.82 billion), up 54.72 percent, all compared to the corresponding period of 2009. The company's profit before tax totaled NTD 34.78 billion ($1.09 billion) in the given period.
