Taiwan's basic metal output up 3.47 percent in Jan-Oct

Taiwan's industrial production index in October this year increased by 0.78 percent as compared to October 2012 and was up 3.55 percent month on month, according to the country's Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA). However, when excluding seasonal effects in calculation, the year-on-year increase in industrial production was 0.23 percent. In the first 10 months of the year, Taiwan's seasonally adjusted industrial production index increased 0.43 percent year on year.
 
In October this year, industrial output in the country's basic metal manufacturing decreased by 0.55 percent and output of metal product manufacturing increased by 8.21 percent, both compared with October 2012. In addition, in October the two sectors saw 0.76 percent and 11.30 percent increases respectively on month-on-month basis. In the first 10 months of 2013, a 3.47 percent year-on-year increase was recorded in Taiwan's basic metal manufacturing output, while the fabricated metal product output index indicated a slight increase of 1.10 percent compared to January-October 2012.
 
Meanwhile, in October this year production in Taiwan's machinery and equipment industry fell by 7.88 percent, output in the automotive industry increased by 0.47 percent, while production in the Taiwanese construction sector increased by 15.42 percent, all year on year.
