In the first half of the year,
Taiwan's seasonally adjusted industrial
production index increased 0.6 percent compared to the first half of the previous year, according to the country's Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA).
Taiwan's industrial
production index in June this year fell by 0.4 percent as compared to June 2012 and was down 4.7 percent month on month. However, the country's seasonally adjusted industrial
production index in June rose 0.6 percent compared to May and was up 1.5 percent compared to the same month of 2012.
In the first half of 2013, a 0.7 percent year-on-year increase was recorded in
Taiwan's basic metal manufacturing output, while the fabricated metal
production index fell 0.4 percent compared to January-June 2012. In June this year, industrial output in the country's basic metal manufacturing increased by 1.1 percent and output of metal product manufacturing fell by 3.6 percent, both compared with June 2012. In addition, the two sectors saw a 0.3 percent increase and a six percent decrease respectively on month-on-month basis.
Meanwhile, in the first half this year
production in
Taiwan's machinery and equipment industry fell by 9.2 percent, output in the
automotive industry decreased by 5.4 percent, while
production in the Taiwanese
construction sector increased by 2.9 percent, all compared to the same half of 2012.
