According to the statistics released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in December 2011 new motor vehicle registrations in Turkey amounted to 72,211 units, decreasing by 15.1 percent month on month and down 23.1 percent year on year. In November, new registrations decreased by 6.2 percent month on month and by 4.4 percent year on year.
New passenger car registrations in December totaled 39,451 units, decreasing by 14.5 percent as compared to the previous month and down 22.4 percent year on year. Passenger cars accounted for 54.6 percent of total registrations. Small truck registrations in December, on the other hand, decreased by 20.3 percent month on month and were down 30.7 percent year on year, amounting to 14,204 units. Small truck registrations constituted 19.7 percent of total registrations.
In the whole of 2011, new motor vehicle registrations in Turkey amounted to 1,192,726 units, with a 28.2 percent increase compared to 2010.
