According to the statistics released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in April this year new motor vehicle registrations in Turkey amounted to 87,542 units, increasing by 6.5 percent month on month and down 12.9 percent year on year.
New passenger car registrations in April totaled 42,831 units, decreasing by 4.4 percent as compared to the previous month and down 16.2 percent year on year. Passenger cars accounted for 48.9 percent of total registrations. Small truck registrations in April, on the other hand, increased by 5.8 percent month on month and were down 19.6 percent year on year, amounting to 15,889 units. Small truck registrations constituted 18.2 percent of total registrations.
In the first four months of 2012, new motor vehicle registrations in Turkey amounted to 348,142 units, with a 18.1 percent decrease compared to the same period in 2011.
