According to the statistics released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in June this year new motor vehicle registrations in Turkey amounted to 79,875 units, decreasing by 22.4 percent month on month and down 15.3 percent year on year.
New passenger car registrations in June totaled 38,183 units, decreasing by 25.7 percent as compared to the previous month and down 12.1 percent year on year. Passenger cars accounted for 47.8 percent of total registrations. Small truck registrations in June, on the other hand, decreased by 11.4 percent month on month and were down 24.4 percent year on year, amounting to 12,464 units. Small truck registrations constituted 15.6 percent of total registrations.
In the first half of 2012, new motor vehicle registrations in Turkey amounted to 530,416 units, with a 16.2 percent decrease compared to the same period in 2011.
