Japanese auto output up 4.5 percent in August

Japanese automobile production in August this year totaled 735,999 units, increasing by 31,911 units or 4.5 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. August was the 11th month which saw an increase in Japan's automobile output on year-on-year basis, according to the data provided by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA).
 
Domestic sales in August this year in Japan stood at 370,777 vehicles, up 12.4 percent as compared with the same month of the previous year. In the meantime, the country's automobile exports in August amounted to 363,800 units, down by 19,751 units or 5.4 percent year on year, after seven consecutive months of year-on-year increase. The revenue generated by these exports amounted to $11.66 billion, including $8.2 billion for vehicles and $3.4 billion for parts. This is a decrease of $17 million or 0.1 percent as compared with $11.68 billion recorded for the same month of the previous year.
