According to the statistics released by the Turkish Statistics Institute (TUIK), Turkey's monthly industrial turnover index in January this year increased by 11.7 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, but was down 19.6 percent over December 2009.
In January, the industrial turnover index for the manufacture of basic metals in Turkey slightly improved by 0.48 percent year on year and registered a decrease of 17.74 percent over the previous month.
Meanwhile, in the month in question, the monthly industrial new orders index for the manufacture of basic metals declined by 12.34 percent over December and was up 1.23 percent year on year.
