Turkey’s steel export value up 11.4 percent in January

According to the provisional foreign trade statistics compiled by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) and the Turkish Undersecretariat of Customs, in January this year Turkey's iron and steel exports totaled $793.2 million, increasing by 11.4 percent year on year and down 16.75 percent from December 2011. Iron and steel ranked third among the products with the highest export value of the country in January, while motor land vehicles had the highest export value.

Meanwhile, exports of articles of iron or steel, which ranked seventh among the products with the highest export value, fell by 19 percent month on month and were up 5.9 percent compared to January 2011, amounting to $431.4 million.
