Turkey’s scrap imports up 14.7 percent in August

According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in August this year Turkey's steel scrap imports fell 12.3 percent compared to July and were up 14.7 percent compared to the same month of 2011, amounting to 1.74 million metric tons.

Meanwhile, in the first eight months of 2012 Turkey's scrap imports amounted to 15.06 million mt, increasing 9.9 percent compared to the same period last year.
