Turkey’s rebar exports down 7.3% in Aug from July

According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in August this year Turkey's rebar (including round bar) exports amounted to 619,439 metric tons, increasing by 48.3 percent year on year but down 7.3 percent from the previous month. Meanwhile, the revenue generated by these exports totaled $377.4 million, rising by 31 percent compared to August 2011 and down 9.4 percent from the previous month.

On the other hand, in the first eight months of the current year Turkey's rebar exports stood at 5.6 million metric tons, up 27.8 percent year on year, while the total revenue of these exports amounted to $3.6 billion, increasing by 25 percent as compared to January-August 2011.

In the January-August period this year, Turkey's rebar exports to the US, one of the largest rebar export destinations of Turkey, increased 91.9 percent, while rebar exports to the UAE decreased by 27.1 percent, both compared to the same period last year.
