Turkey's motor vehicle production up 22 percent in August

According to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers' Association (OSD), in August this year Turkey's motor vehicle output totaled 61,314 units, increasing by 22 percent year on year.
 
In August, Turkey's passenger car output totaled 29,192 units - up 23 percent, its commercial vehicle production reached 31,099 units - up 21 percent, while tractor production amounted to 1,023 units - up 21 percent, all compared to August 2009.
 
The overall production capacity utilization rate of the Turkish automotive industry in August this year was 47 percent, due to planned production cuts of automotive factories.
 
Meanwhile, in the first eight months of this year, the country's total motor vehicle output amounted to 706,338 units, up 31 percent year on year: passenger car output totaled 389,190 units, while commercial vehicle production reached 298,654 units, increasing respectively by 20 percent and 46 percent compared to the corresponding period of 2009.
