Taiwan’s basic metal export value up 16.6 percent in 2011

According to the statistics released by the Taiwan Ministry of Finance, in December 2011 Taiwan's export value of basic metals and articles made from basic metals amounted to $2.35 billion, increasing by 4.3 percent compared to the same month of 2010. The value of these exports constituted 9.8 percent of the total value of Taiwanese exports in December 2011.
In the whole year of 2011, Taiwan's export value of basic metals and articles made from basic metals increased 16.6 percent over 2010, amounting to $30.18 billion. Meanwhile, in 2011 Taiwan's import value for the products in question increased by 11.1 percent compared to 2010 to $24.35 billion.
