German wholesale metal prices down 5.1 percent in May

As reported by Germany's Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), in May of the current year the wholesale selling prices of industrial products in Germany were 0.1 percent lower compared to May 2012, following the 0.4 percent year-on-year price decrease recorded in April which was the first decrease since November 2009. Meanwhile, the wholesale price index was 0.4 percent lower in May compared to April.

In May, a sharp price decline was seen in the wholesale prices of ores, metals and semi-finished metal products in Germany with a 5.1 percent fall compared to the same month of 2012. Meanwhile, the wholesale prices in the metal sector were down 1.2 percent in May compared to April.
