German producers’ basic metal prices down 5.4 percent in Apr

As reported by Germany's Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), in April this year the producer prices of industrial products in Germany fell by 0.2 percent compared to March this year and were up 0.1 percent compared to April 2012. The year-on-year rate of change is the lowest recorded since March 2010 when a decline of 1.5 percent was seen.

Excluding energy, producer prices of industrial products in Germany increased by 0.4 percent in April of the current year compared to April 2012 and fell by 0.1 percent compared to March.

In April, intermediate goods in Germany were 0.7 percent cheaper on year-on-year basis, marking the first year-on-year decline since August 2012 when a decrease of 0.2 percent was witnessed, while intermediate good prices fell by 0.4 percent compared to March. German producers' prices for basic metals in April this year were lower by 5.4 percent year on year.
