German iron ore import prices up 4.2 percent in Jan over Dec

According to a report released by the German Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), in January this year the import price of iron ore decreased by 17.7 percent year on year in Germany. January was the third consecutive month in which a month-on-month increase was seen in iron ore import prices, with a rise of 4.2 percent compared to December 2012.

In January, the import price of iron and steel and ferroalloys in Germany fell by 3.7 percent year on year, but rose by 1.1 percent compared to the previous month.

Meanwhile, in January the import price of nickel fell by 12 percent compared to the same month of last year and was down by just 0.1 percent month on month.
