February steel service center shipments rise slightly in US, decline in Canada

According to the Metals Service Center Institute, US service center steel shipments in February 2014 increased by 0.4 percent from February 2013. 2014 year-to-date steel shipments increased by 0.2 percent from the same period in 2013. Steel product inventories increased 0.8 percent from February a year ago and 0.3 percent from January.

Meanwhile, Canadian service center shipments of steel products in February 2014 decreased by 3.2 percent from February 2013. Steel product inventories decreased 1.1 percent from January.
