Demand in the Iranian welded pipe market has not shown any improvement over the past month. Buyers in the welded pipe market in Iran have not been active in the run-up to the Iranian New Year holiday (starts on March 21 and lasts until April 12). Welded pipe producers and traders in Iran have kept their domestic prices unchanged over the past month amid dull market conditions, while prices in US dollar terms have declined by $10-20/mt. Market players believe significant changes in the market are unlikely to be seen in the coming short-term period given the market stagnation and the uncertainties surrounding the growth of domestic demand.
Iranian producers' current domestic prices for 6"-14" welded pipes with 2 mm wall thickness of grade B made to ASTM/API are at $730-785/mt (IRR 20,440-21,980/mt) ex-works. Prices are exclusive of eight percent VAT.
Local stockists' prices for welded pipes of ½"-3" size from Iranian producers are at about $790-820/mt ex-warehouse, compared to $800-835/mt ex-warehouse one month ago. Offers of 20 x 20 mm - 100 x 100 mm hollow sections ex-warehouse Tehran are on average at $670-685/mt ex-warehouse, $15-20/mt lower compared to one month ago.
Chinese welded pipes, 2"-8" grade B made to ASTM A53/API 5L, are currently being offered to the Iranian market at $520-540/mt CFR, $10/mt lower than one month ago.
