Welded pipe prices have increased in the local Iranian market by $130-180/mt over the two past months under the influence of the surge of flats prices from Iranian traders after Mobarakeh Steel Co. halted its supplies in order to modernize its production. Currently, pipe producers believe that local HRC prices will decline again, thus helping welded pipe prices to return to acceptable levels. However, if HR coil prices do not decrease, pipe mills will continue to buy flat products at high prices as producers do not have sufficient hot rolled coil inventory to sustain their production processes.
