Japanese crude steel output down 1.5 percent in September

In September this year, Japanese crude steel production was down 5.2 percent compared to the previous month and down 1.5 percent compared to September 2015, totaling 8.44 million mt, according to the data released by the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF). 
 
Meanwhile, in September of the current year Japan's pig iron production totaled 6.43 million metric tons, falling by 8.2 percent compared to the previous month and down by 3.1 percent year on year.
                                                    
In the January-September period of this year, the country's pig iron output stood at 60.46 million metric tons, down 0.5 percent, while its crude steel production came to 78.37 million metric tons, falling 0.5 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
