World pig iron output down 5.61 percent in November over October

According to the data released by the World Steel Association (worldsteel), formerly the International Iron and Steel Institute (IISI), world pig iron production for the countries surveyed was 79.56 million metric tons in November, increasing by 24.94 percent year on year, but down 5.61 percent compared to October.
Meanwhile, global direct reduced iron (DRI) production in November totaled 4.33 million metric tons, decreasing by 8.72 percent compared to October, but up by 6.43 percent year on year. Worldsteel data show that India is the largest DRI producer among the countries surveyed, with a DRI output of 1.7 million metric tons in October, followed by Iran and Mexico, with outputs of 630,000 mt and 450,000 mt respectively.
