In July, demand for power supply registered by China Southern Power Grid climbed quickly, reaching 113.23 million kWh, i.e. a year-on-year increase of 10.6 percent. Accordingly, in southern China four provinces - Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan and Guizhou - are now enforcing power restrictions, while no supply restrictions have yet been imposed in the province of Hainan.
According to China South Power Grid, the overall power supply shortage in southern China is expected to be over eight percent of total demand, while the supply shortage in some areas will exceed 20 percent. If the situation as regards coal stocks and water supply is more serious than expected, the power shortages will increase.
According to the data from China South Power Grid, power demand continues to increase in the five provinces of southern China. Overall power consumption in southern China in H1 this year increased by 11.9 percent year on year.
