Ukraine sees 19 percent drop in January-May automotive output

According to the data issued by the Ukrainian Motor Vehicle Manufacturers Association Ukrautoprom, in January-May 2010 Ukrainian automakers produced 24,207 vehicles, registering a 19 percent decrease year on year. In particular, during the period in question, local automakers produced 21,300 cars - down 26 percent, 909 buses - up 2.4 times, and 1,997 trucks - up 2.9 times, all compared to January-May 2009.

In May this year, Ukrainian automakers saw a slower output growth compared with the previous months, registering an increase in their output by only one percent month on month (in April the month-on-month growth amounted to 27 percent) to 6,784 vehicles, including 6,031 cars - up three percent, 541 trucks - down 16 percent, and 212 buses - up two percent, all compared to April.
