According to the statistics released by the Turkish Statistics Institute (TUIK),
Turkey's monthly industrial turnover index in May this year increased by 17.8 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, and was up by eight percent over April this year.
In May, the industrial turnover index for the manufacture of basic metals in
Turkey improved by 15.2 percent year on year and registered a 14.1 percent increase from the previous month. Meanwhile, on year-on year basis the last decline in the index was recorded in January 2010. The industrial turnover index for fabricated metal products manufacturing, except machinery and equipment, recorded a rise of 18.3 percent year on year in the month in question and increased 8.6 percent from the previous month.
Meanwhile, in May this year, the industrial new orders index for the manufacture of basic metals increased by 12 percent from April and was up 12.5 percent year on year. On year-on-year basis, the index has been trending up since January 2010. The industrial new orders index for the manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment, in May this year decreased by 5.7 percent compared to the same month of 2011 and was up 7.6 percent compared to the previous month.
