Turkish construction output index up 3.6 percent in Q1

On July 5, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUİK) released the quarterly domestic construction sector indicators for the first quarter of 2012.

Accordingly, in the period in question, the quarterly production index in Turkey's domestic construction sector increased by 3.6 percent, compared to the same period of the previous year. Meanwhile, the production index in domestic building construction rose from 98.2 to 102.8, increasing by 4.7 percent, while the production index in civil engineering fell from 131.7 to 131.3, decreasing by 0.3 percent, all compared to the first quarter of 2011.

Moreover, the quarterly turnover index in the domestic construction sector, with the base year 2005 = 100 and calculated according to the Statistical Classification of Economic Activities in the European Community, Rev. 2 (NACE Rev.2), increased by 2.9 percent in the first quarter of 2012 compared to the same quarter of the previous year.
