Building permits in Turkey fall 10.1 percent in Q1

According to the data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), the number of buildings authorized by building permits from municipalities in Turkey in the first quarter of 2012 decreased to 15,237, down 10.1 percent from 16,942 registered during the same period of the previous year.

In the first quarter this year, the value of the buildings in question increased by 34.7 percent year on year to $9.6 billion, while the total number of apartments authorized by building permits increased to 116,684, up five percent from 111,150 units in the same quarter of the previous year.

Meanwhile, in the first quarter, the number of buildings given occupancy permits by municipalities in Turkey decreased by 3.6 percent to 18,316 buildings compared to the same period last year.
