According to the data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), the number of buildings authorized by building permits from municipalities in Turkey in the first half of 2012 increased to 47,299, up 8.4 percent from 43,632 registered during the same period of the previous year.
In the first half this year, the value of the buildings in question increased by 48.9 percent year on year to $49.6 billion, while the total number of apartments authorized by building permits increased to 349,226, up 26.4 percent from 308,008 units in the same quarter of the previous year.
Meanwhile, in the first half, the number of buildings given occupancy permits by municipalities in Turkey decreased by 9.1 percent to 40,917 buildings compared to the same period last year.
