Turkey’s steel scrap imports hit 8.79 million mt in H1

According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in the first half of this year Turkey's steel scrap imports rose 24.92 percent year on year, reaching 8.79 million metric tons. The value of these imports amounted to $3.27 billion, increasing by 85.42 percent, as compared to the corresponding period of 2009.
 
The data show that the average import price of Turkey's steel scrap stood at $371.63/mt, rising by 48.43 percent or $121.26/mt as compared to January-June 2009.
