According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in April this year Turkey's stainless flat steel imports fell by 1.13 percent compared to the previous month and were up 13.8 percent compared to April 2011, amounting to 31,238 metric tons. The value of these imports was $79.9 million, decreasing by 6.5 percent as compared to March this year and down 7.1 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, in the first four months of the current year, Turkey's stainless flat steel imports amounted to 122,926 metric tons, increasing 3.6 percent compared to the corresponding period of 2011.
In April this year, Turkey's stainless flat steel imports from Taiwan amounted to 6,493 metric tons, decreasing by 20.1 percent year on year. Turkey's second biggest source of stainless flat steel imports in April this year was South Korea with 5,756 metric tons, up 82 percent compared to the same month of 2011.
