According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in February this year Turkey's stainless flat steel imports fell by 10.6 percent compared to the previous month and were down 8.6 percent compared to February 2011, decreasing to 28,370 metric tons. The value of these imports amounted to $73 million, decreasing by 15.6 percent as compared to January this year and down 19.3 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, in the first two months of the current year, Turkey's stainless flat steel imports amounted to 60,100 metric tons, increasing 10 percent compared to the corresponding period of 2011.
In the first two months of the current year, Turkey's stainless flat steel imports from Taiwan amounted to 11,647 metric tons, increasing by 11.9 percent year on year. Turkey's second biggest source of stainless flat steel imports in January-February this year was South Korea with 9,646 metric tons, down 15.4 percent compared to the first two months of 2011.
