Turkey’s seamless pipe imports up 16.6 percent in 2011

According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in December 2011 Turkey's seamless pipe imports rose by 56.85 percent compared to the previous month and were up 2.2 percent compared to December 2010, increasing to 19,221 metric tons. The value of these imports amounted to $34.2 million, increasing by 52.2 percent as compared to November and down 36.4 percent year on year.

In the whole year of 2011, Turkey's seamless pipe imports amounted to 235,736 metric tons, increasing 16.6 percent compared to 2010.

In 2011, Turkey's seamless pipe imports from China amounted to 76,462 metric tons, increasing by 14.3 percent year on year and accounting for approximately 32.4 percent of Turkey's total seamless pipe imports. Turkey's second biggest source of seamless pipe imports in 2011 was Russia with 41,339 metric tons, decreasing by 8.6 percent compared to 2010.
