Turkey’s new motor vehicle registrations down 13.3% in Jan-Sept

According to the statistics released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in September this year new motor vehicle registrations in Turkey amounted to 84,846 units, decreasing by seven percent month on month and down 5.4 percent year on year. Meanwhile, in the first nine months of the current year new motor vehicle registrations in Turkey amounted to 818,804 units, with a 13.3 percent decrease compared to the same period in 2011.

In September, new passenger car registrations in Turkey totaled 40,499 units, decreasing by 10.3 percent as compared to the previous month and up 5.1 percent year on year. Passenger cars accounted for 47.7 percent of total registrations. Small truck registrations in September, on the other hand, decreased by 1.6 percent month on month and were down 9.5 percent year on year, amounting to 15,000 units. Small truck registrations constituted 17.7 percent of total registrations.
