In December last year, Turkey's motor vehicle sales totaled 163,432 units, increasing by six percent year on year, according to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers' Association (OSD). In the same month, Turkey's passenger car sales totaled 114,340 units, up four percent year on year. Meanwhile, in 2015, Turkey's motor vehicle sales amounted to 1,011,194 units, up 25 percent on year-on-year basis.
In 2015, Turkey's motor vehicle exports totaled 992,335 units, up 12 percent, while passenger car exports increased by four percent to 604,683 units, both year on year. In the same period, the country exported 341,834 small trucks, up 27 percent year on year. In the period in question, revenues from total motor vehicle and component exports decreased by five percent to $21.7 billion, while the revenues from passenger car exports totaled $6.9 billion, decreasing by five percent, both on year-on-year basis.
In December of the current year, Turkey's total motor vehicle imports amounted to 99,578 units, up six percent, while passenger car imports totaled 80,726 units, up four percent, both year on year. In 2015, the country's total motor vehicle imports amounted to 658,690 up 26 percent, while passenger car imports reached 537,715 units, rising by 25 percent, both compared to 2014.
