Finnish steelmaker Rautaruukki has announced its plans to increase the production capacity of its Parnas steel service center located in the northern Russian city of St. Petersburg, in order to cope with growing demand in Russia.

A new cut-to-length line will commence production at the Parnas steel service center in autumn 2008 to serve in particular light engineering customers with production facilities in the St. Petersburg area.

"Russia is an attractive, growing neighboring market of Ruukki. Despite the growing market, there is still no serious competition in service center operations in Russia. A comprehensive range of prefabrication services, local personnel and prompt delivery times gives our customers the chance to focus on their own core business", President of Ruukki Metals Olavi Huhtala said.
