Raspadskaya’s coal output down seven percent in Q3 from Q2

Raspadskaya Coal Company (Raspadskaya), one of the largest coking coal producers in Russia, has announced that in the third quarter this year its raw coal production volume decreased by seven percent compared to the second quarter of this year to 2.43 million mt, while in the first nine months of the current year its raw coal production volume declined by six percent year on year to 7.31 million mt.
 
In the third quarter, concentrate sales decreased by nine percent quarter on quarter to 1.44 million mt, while hard coking coal sales increased by 70 percent compared to the second quarter to 103,000 mt, mainly driven by an increase in domestic sales. In the January-September period this year, the company’s concentrate sales decreased by 10 percent to 4.55 million mt, while its hard coking coal sales declined by 71 percent to 230,000 mt, both year on year.
 
According to Raspadskaya's statement, during the third quarter export sales volumes of coal concentrate fell 13 percent to 841,000 mt, while domestic sales of coking coal concentrate declined by three percent to 602,000 mt, both on quarter-on-quarter basis. In the first nine months of this year, the company’s export sales volumes of coal concentrate increased by two percent to 2.73 million mt, and domestic sales of coking coal concentrate decreased by 23 percent to 1.82 million mt, both compared to the same period of 2015.
