Raspadskaya’s coal output down 12 percent in Q1 from Q4

Raspadskaya Coal Company (Raspadskaya), one of the largest coking coal producers in Russia, has announced that in the first quarter this year its raw coal production volume decreased by 12 percent quarter on quarter to 2.3 million mt, due to some operations being suspended.
 
In the first quarter, coking coal concentrate sales increased by six percent to 1.5 million mt, including domestic sales of 561,000 mt, up 25 percent, both quarter on quarter. This increase stemmed mainly from greater demand for coal products amid a rise in the output of coke and pig iron in Russia.

In the first quarter of the current year, according to Raspadskaya's statement, its export sales volumes of coal concentrate decreased by three percent to 925,000 mt compared to the previous quarter. In the first quarter, export sales accounted for 62 percent of the company’s total coking coal concentrate sales.
