OMK’s Vyksa increases casing production capacity to 400,000 mt

The Russian steel and pipe producer United Metallurgical Company (OMK) has announced that its Novgorod-based pipe producer Vyksa Steel Works (Vyksa) has completed the modernization of its casing production complex, which was carried out in order to increase its pipe output, expand product range and improve quality characteristics.

Accordingly, the investments in the project amounted to Ruble 2.5 billion (about $79 million) between 2004 and 2010, and allowed Vyksa to increase its casing production capacities from 290,000 mt to 400,000 mt per year.

The main suppliers of equipment for the project included Emag and SMS Siemag ( Germany), Kusakabe (Japan) and Linsinger (Austria).
Meanwhile, in 2010-2012, Vyksa will continue the modernization of its small and medium diameter pipe production facilities, the investments in which will amount to about Ruble 1.5 billion (approx. $43.4 million).

In 2009, Vyksa increased its pipe output by 7.5 percent year on year to 1.5 million mt, including more than 200,000 mt of casing.
