New motor vehicle registrations in Turkey down 3.9% in Jan-Feb

According to the statistics released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in February this year new motor vehicle registrations in Turkey decreased by 13.91 percent year on year to 52,240 units, down 57.97 percent on month-on-month basis. In the first two months this year, new motor vehicle registrations in Turkey totaled 176,531 units, decreasing by 3.9 percent compared to the same period of 2013.

New passenger car registrations in February this year totaled 28,170 units, decreasing by 65.43 percent as compared to January and down 18.33 percent year on year. Passenger cars accounted for 54 percent of total new motor vehicle registrations in the given month.

On the other hand, new small truck registrations in February decreased by 68.77 percent month on month and were down 27.65 percent year on year, amounting to 7,281 units. Small truck registrations constituted 14 percent of total new registrations in February.
