New car registrations in Turkey down 5.4 percent in Aug

According to the statistics released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in August of the current year new motor vehicle registrations in Turkey decreased by 5.4 percent year on year to 86,274 units, down 35.5 percent on month-on-month basis. In the first nine months this year, new car registrations in Turkey totaled 784,586 units, rising 6.9 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. 

New passenger car registrations in August this year totaled 48,140 units, decreasing by 36.8 percent as compared to July and up 6.6 percent year on year. Passenger cars accounted for 55.8 percent of total new motor vehicle registrations.

On the other hand, new small truck registrations in August decreased by 42.9 percent month on month and were up 33.2 percent year on year, amounting to 10,180 units. Small truck registrations constituted 11.8 percent of total new registrations.
