Maharashtra steel makers face power shortages

Power shortages in India's Maharashtra region mean that steel makers such as Ispat, Jindal Iron & Steel, Bhushan Steel, and Mukand Steel face the danger of regular power cuts. Due to the complaints of the farmers and upon the decision that there was discrimination in supply to rural areas, Maharashtra State Electricity Board (MESB) will soon decide whether to subject regional steel makers to a daily load-shedding schedule. The steel companies currently consume nearly 1'000 MW per day. A load-shedding schedule would see their consumption restricted nearly 30%.
