Kazakhstan aims to double metal output by 2015

Kazakhstan plans to double its metal and mining output by 2015, said Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev at the 1st Kazakhstan International Mineral Resources and Metallurgy Congress ‘Astana Minerals & Metallurgy' held on June 30-July 1, in Astana, the Interfax-Kazakhstan news agency has reported.
 
"The innovative industrial program of Kazakhstan provides for doubling metal production by 2015 from the level of 2008...The program sets such targets as raising steel production to up to 10 million mt a year from the current 4 million mt and increasing output of ferrochrome to 440,000 mt and output of aluminum to 250,000 mt," President Nazarbayev said.
