According to the data released by the
Japan Ship Exporters' Association (JSEA), Japanese new ship export orders in December 2014 increased by 257.2 percent on tonnage basis compared to November and up 37.3 percent year on year, amounting to 24 ships, up from 10 ships recorded in November, totaling 1.21 million gross tons, consisting of 17 bulk carriers. In December 2013,
Japan's new ship export orders had totaled 44 ships amounting to 1.93 million gross tons.
In 2014, Japanese shipbuilders received new export orders for a total of 336 ships with an aggregate of 14.85 million gross tons, increasing by 1.55 percent year on year.
On the other hand, in December 2014
Japan delivered seven ships for export, totaling 334,065 gross tons, decreasing from 14 ships totaling 618,346 gross tons recorded in November. In December 2013,
Japan's new ship deliveries for export had totaled 11 ships with 565,705 gross tons. Meanwhile, in 2014,
Japan delivered 270 ships for export, totaling 11.56 million gross tons, decreasing by 9.06 percent year on year.
